Christopher Quackenbush ‘79.  January 5th 1957 – September 11th 2001
Christopher was as a founding principal in the investment firm of Sandler O’Neill & Partners at 2 World Trade Center, 104th Floor. He was 44 years old and was a resident of Manhasset New York.

A memorial service was held on September 22, 2001. A Catholic funeral Mass was held on September 9th, 2002 @ St. Patricks, Bay Shore, NY.

Christopher began his career in 1982 as an attorney at Skadden Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom, a mergers and acquisitions law firm. In 1986 he joined the financial institutions mergers and acquisitions group of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. In February 1989, he joined Sandler O’Neill & Partners, founding the company’s investment banking division.

Christopher was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and New York University School of Law. He was admitted to the New York Bar Association. He served on the NYU Law School Board of Trustees and was a member of the board of directors of the University of North Carolina’s Educational Foundation. Christopher was also the president of the board of directors for Adventures in Learning, a cultural enrichment and after-school program for children, and served on the advisory board for Mercy Haven, a nonprofit housing corporation for individuals with mental illness.

He established The Jacob Marley Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds educational, literacy and religious programs for underprivileged children.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Traci and his three children, Whitney, 11, C.J., 9, and Kelsey, 6. Also, his father, Arthur ’47, sisters Diane and Gail ’84 BA, ’88 MD, brothers Brian ‘ 74 and Michael ’77. His Mother is the late Julia Newsome Quackenbush ’46.
